“A Brown and White Sugar spread”- Christmas edition

Last year this time around, I was a brand new mom, about a few weeks old. It goes without saying that baking and decorating were the last things on my mind and I dearly missed doing it back then. It was baking galore this Christmas season and I decided to wind up with a sober palette for the bakes at our place.

My husband and I loved the Cookie trees that went out to clients and we just had to have a Lil one done for ourselves. So here is a Lil one in gingerbread and royal icing with the colours left as is giving it a rustic charm. Can you spot the pyramid tree in the distance? It’s a stencilled one.

Here is a full view of the spread. I am not going to chat too much over this. Let the image do all the talking !

I had zero energy and time for soaking fruits this season. But there has to be some fruit and spice in your Christmas cake innit? A Pear and ginger cake layered with Cinnamon buttercream with a core of Spiced Salted Caramel. Could nnootttt wait to dig in !!! Decor had been done in gingerbread trees and chocolate baubles.

I love how the geometry in brown and white came together with a bit of gold to make it pop. Lil white dots were piped onto the trees with royal icing, while the baubles were hand painted in chalky white ,dull gold and a third variety that had a mix of both.

In a few days from now, the tree and decorations will be taken down. What remains will be the sweet memories of this festive season that we spent over good food and catching up with friends, the most memorable one being that of Christmas night with Shayne Haridas and Zafar Syed who joined us to make it one to always remember. Do check out their blogs for an in-depth review of the sweet treats as well as the festive cooking I occasionally do.

Simple, Dreamy and Merry !
