"The Jordan Owner" -Birthday edition

It’s not about the shoes. It’s about knowing where you are going. Not forgetting where you started. It’s about having the courage to fail. Not breaking when you’re broken. Taking everything you have been given and making something better. It’s about work before glory and what’s inside of you. It’s doing what they say you can’t. It’s not about the shoes, it’s about what you do in them. It’s about being who you are born to be-Michael Jordan

A Dark Chocolate cake layered with Malted chocolate filling and frosted in Dark Chocolate Ganache. Karen has been collecting Jordan shoes for a very long time and it goes without saying what an ardent Nike fan she is.Like I mentioned the other day about playing along for surprises, yesterday was such a day and I played the Cake delivery girl at King Fahd Hospital for a while unable to give a straight answer to Karen's confused questions of what, where and how. Red and Black was the palette given to me and this time I decided to impart a "knife painting" look with the cake as my canvas, buttercream as the oil paint and my cake spatula as a palette knife. The textures gave room for specks of white and some edible gold for more charm. Speaking of the Air Jordan Retro Royalty shoe topper, yes it was scary enough to make right from the template to the final paint strokes and detailing. It has been handcrafted in Gumpaste and scored and painted for that realistic feel. Made for Karen on her birthday as requested by her partner all the way from the Philippines.
