"A Saree Inspiration" - Workshop edition

Design Inspiration-A Sari, saree, sadi, or shari is a South Asian female garment that consists of a drape varying from five to nine yards that is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff.

A phenomenal Sugar Flower workshop I completed with Vinita Lobo owner at CakeKrafts Dubai. The sari is associated with grace and is widely regarded as a symbol of grace in South Asian cultures. The Kanchipuram saree innovations which are trending in the creations by Poornima Indrajith-designer at Pranaah were my source of inspiration. Her popular design of a saree with a lifelike print of botanical flowers caught my eye & I wanted to have the same effect depicted on the cake. The Ruby red Peony, Vintage pink Rose, African Violet Parrot Tulips, Orange Anthuriums, Ferns, Berries & filler flowers were meticulously taught by this fine teacher with beautiful detailing given to the finesse, Veining, dusting & toning of every petal. The Flowers have been arranged in a cascading fashion on the golden yellow Sugar Saree drape. I cannot fathom her patience as a teacher & this creation stands tall & proud amongst the real flowers & foliage in her beautiful garden only because of her passion, dedication, support & guidance in this sophisticated line of Sugarcraft.Thank you very much. Much love & gratitude from Elma, The Oven Affairs.
